Wicks Intimates was founded in 2025 by Lisa Taylor, a Kiwi living in Melbourne, after a personal experience many women can relate to.
During the whirlwind of postpartum, Lisa found herself wearing absorbent underwear every day. While the functionality was there, the experience wasn't. The products available felt utilitarian, uncomfortable and uninspiring. They seemed designed solely for practicality, as though women should simply accept sacrificing comfort, beauty and confidence in exchange for absorbency.
What began as a maternity leave idea quickly became an obsession: creating absorbent lingerie that felt beautiful to wear.
Wicks launched as Australia's first elevated take on absorbent lingerie. Initially, the focus was period management. Like many people entering the category, Lisa assumed period care was the primary reason women sought absorbent underwear.
But something unexpected happened.
Within weeks of launch, emails began arriving from customers sharing a different story.
Women in their forties, fifties, sixties and beyond wrote to say they had been searching for something like Wicks for years. Many were managing light bladder leaks, occasional leaks during exercise, perimenopause, pelvic floor changes, or simply wanted the reassurance of everyday absorbency. They loved the product because it finally offered an elegant alternative to bulky disposable liners, or absorbent period underwear that was clearly designed for teenaged bodies.Â
Those conversations changed the direction of the business.
The more Lisa listened, the clearer it became that a large group of women had been overlooked. Almost all of the absorbent underwear market was focused on period management and younger consumers, yet millions of women experiencing light bladder leaks were left with products that prioritised function over comfort, beauty and dignity.
Wicks evolved in response.
Today, Wicks is focused on serving sophisticated women at all stages of life. Wicks women require absorbency in their underwear for a variety of reasons, whether that be light bladder leaks, ovulation, postpartum recovery, perimenopause, unpredictable cycles, travel, long workdays or simply a desire to feel fresh and comfortable.
Every Wicks piece is thoughtfully designed to combine absorbency with elegance. We use premium fabrics and our pieces are lined in GOTS certified organic cotton that is both antimicrobial and anti-odour. Our pieces feel soft, breathable and beautiful enough to wear every day.
Our customer isn't defined by her age.
She's a woman who values quality. She knows herself. She appreciates thoughtful design. She wants practical solutions, but she doesn't believe practicality should come at the expense of beauty.
