What a Weekend: Wicks in Viva and a Wave of Orders from Aotearoa

This past weekend was one I’ll never forget. After a single feature in NZ Herald’s Viva magazine, Wicks Intimates experienced a tidal wave of orders — especially from women over 50 across Aotearoa. This was quite literally the first piece of editorial for the brand too.

I launched Wicks mere weeks ago with one clear intention: to offer absorbent underwear that feels pampering like lingerie. Something elegant, comfortable, and designed for women at every life stage — not just teens managing their periods. And this weekend’s response confirmed what I’ve always believed: mature women want (and deserve) a solution that doesn’t feel clinical or compromising.

From the moment the piece went live, the orders poured in. Not just from big cities, but from small towns and suburbs where women are quietly managing light bladder leakage — and until now, settling for options that didn’t reflect who they are or how they want to feel.

I had messages from women who’ve never used a reusable absorbent product before, telling me how relieved they were to finally find something that felt like them. Sophisticated. Comfortable. Dignified.

It’s incredibly validating to know Wicks is resonating so soon after launch with the very women I created it for — and as a Kiwi, seeing that love from home makes it even sweeter.

To every woman who placed an order this weekend: thank you. Your trust means everything. And to those who are just discovering Wicks — welcome. We’re just getting started.
